An mHealth company that helps people with chronic conditions manage complex medication protocols was named the winner of the 9th annual Venture+ Forum pitch competition.
TowerView Health, based in Philadelphia, was selected over 14 other startups chosen to pitch their products to a panel of investors and healthcare executives at last week's HIMSS15 Conference and Exhibition in Chicago. Presenting companies were chosen based on their ability to have "demonstrable impact on improving healthcare delivery and outcomes."
TowerView's end-to-end solution consists of a digital pillbox that helps consumers manage daily medication regimens, including sending an alert if the user misses a dose. Those using the device are mailed pre-filled medication trays on a regular basis from their pharmacy.
The company is partnering with health plans and providers with the goal of making the platform available free-of-charge to patients.

"The attention and interest that we've received from health plans and at-risk providers since the competition has been nothing short of incredible," Rahul Jain, the company's CEO, said in a press release. "We started this company with the goal of making patients' lives easier and it's an incredible feeling to be recognized by the Venture+ Forum and the larger healthcare community at HIMSS."
The Venture+ Forum is held each year at both the annual HIMSS conference and the mHealth Summit, which takes place at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center just outside Washington D.C.; HIMSS Media owns mHealth News.
The 2015 mHealth Summit is scheduled for Nov. 8-11, roughly one month earlier than previous summits. This year's summit will focus on "mobile and connected health solutions that are driving patient-centered healthcare delivery and the consumer adoption of wearables, apps and personal health devices."
