Four cutting-edge digital health companies will pitch their products at the HIMSS15 Conference and Exhibition in the inaugural HX360 Innovation Challenge.
Selected from a field of 83 candidates, the companies were chosen for exhibiting concepts designed to improve patient engagement and the patient experience at hospitals and health systems. They'll be judged on a number of criteria, including improved patient satisfaction, increased patient convenience and access to care, better access to health information, patient empowerment, proof of positive impact, market readiness and technical considerations that include interoperability with existing IT systems, workflow impact, superior user interface and scalability.
The four finalists are
- Clockwise.MD, an Atlanta-based developer of an online platform that allows patients to check in for medical appointments from any web-enabled device, with a text message sent to them on expected wait times.
- Ginger.io, a San Francisco-based developer of mHealth solutions using machine learning analytics and passive data collected through smartphone sensors to help patient s and their caregivers develop behavioral health care plans.

The four finalists will present their pitches from 2:30-4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 at the McCormick Place in Chicago. Two winners will be chosen at that time, and will receive $75,000 in prize money and legal services that will be used to fund pilot programs for their solutions in a not-for-profit health system. The health systems will be selected by AVIA, a provider-based healthcare accelerator and co-founder of HX360 with HIMSS.
